You are probably here because you think North Texas Mean Green was named after famed alumnus Joe “Mean” Greene of Pittsburgh Steeler lore. It’s okay. Common misconception.

I created this site as a reference; a place where people could come and see how the North Texas “Mean Green” moniker came about.  Hint: Big Joe played a part, but we are not named after him.
